How to use the URL Slug Generator
- Paste a title, or several, one per line.
- Choose whether to drop stop words and how long slugs can be.
- Copy one slug or all of them.
What makes a good URL slug
- Short and readable:
/tools/utm-builderbeats/tools/the-best-free-utm-link-builder-tool-2026. - Lowercase, words separated by hyphens. Google treats hyphens as spaces, but not underscores.
- Includes the main keyword, without stop words that add length and no meaning.
- No dates or numbers that will go stale, unless the page really is about that year.
- Permanent. If you change a live slug, add a 301 redirect from the old one.
Once the slug is set, preview the whole result with the SERP preview tool, and tag the links you share with the UTM builder.
Frequently asked questions
Do URL slugs affect SEO?
A little. Google uses the words in a URL as a small signal, and readable URLs get more clicks when they're shared or shown in results.
Should I remove stop words from slugs?
Usually. Words like 'a', 'the' and 'of' make slugs longer without adding meaning. Keep them when removing them changes the meaning, as in 'to-be-or-not-to-be'.
How are accents and other languages handled?
Accented letters become plain ones (é becomes e), and symbols are removed. Letters from other scripts, like Cyrillic or Greek, are kept as they are, since modern browsers display them fine.
Hyphens or underscores?
Hyphens. Google reads a hyphen as a word separator, but joins words separated by underscores.
