How to use the Meta Tag Generator
- Enter the page title, description and URL.
- Add a share image and your X handle if you have them.
- Copy the generated tags into the <head> of your page.
Which meta tags actually matter
- <title> is the most important on-page SEO element. It's the clickable headline in search results.
- meta description doesn't affect ranking directly, but it's often your ad copy in the results.
- canonical tells search engines which URL is the main one when the same page is reachable at several addresses.
- robots controls whether the page is indexed. Leave it out if you want the default, index and follow.
- Open Graph and X card tags control the preview when your link is shared on social networks and in chat apps.
- viewport is required for a mobile-friendly page.
Meta keywords tags are ignored by Google, so this generator leaves them out.
After you add the tags
Check the result live: the Open Graph checker shows your share card, and the marketing SEO checker audits the whole page. Want rich results too? Add structured data with the schema markup generator.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I put meta tags?
Inside the <head> section of your HTML, before </head>. Most site builders and CMSs have SEO fields that write these tags for you. Use the generated values there.
What size should my Open Graph image be?
1200 × 630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio), under 5 MB, as PNG or JPG. Keep key text away from the edges, since some apps crop it.
Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter tags?
X falls back to Open Graph for the title, description and image, but it needs twitter:card to show a large image. This generator writes the minimum set that covers both.
Should I add a meta keywords tag?
No. Google has ignored it for years, and it shows competitors which keywords you're going after.
