What is StarTap?

A clicker game with a public leaderboard. Makers add their website as a project, tap the Star to earn stars, and climb the all-time and daily boards. Every project on the boards links to its site.

Do I need an account to play?

No. You can tap as a guest straight away, and your progress carries over to your first project when you sign in with GitHub, Google or X. You need to sign in to add a site.

Can I add any website?

Any public site that follows the content policy. There's one project per domain and one project per maker. If you add a domain you don't own, its owner can reclaim it and you get a strike.

How do I get the Verified badge?

Prove you control the domain with the StarTap Banner on your homepage, a meta tag, or a DNS TXT record. We recheck it daily. Unverified projects still play and rank.

Why put the Banner on my site?

It verifies your project and gives it ×1.5 stars from taps and sources for as long as it stays up.

How can people support my project?

Share your project's page. Anyone can tap the Star there to send it stars, no sign-up needed. Your invite link also gives both projects a boost when a maker you invited verifies their site.

Do I earn stars while I'm away?

Yes. Your sources keep earning for up to 8h after you leave, and you collect it when you come back.

Can I buy stars or cash them out?

No. Stars are game points with no cash value. They can't be bought, sold or transferred.

Will an auto-clicker help?

No. Automated tapping is against the rules, and accounts that game the board are removed.

How do I report a project?

Signed-in makers can report a project from its page. Projects reported by several makers are hidden until a moderator reviews them.

How do I delete my project?

Open the Project tab in the game and delete it there. It's removed from the boards right away.
