Open Graph checker

Paste a URL to see its share card on Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Slack, plus every Open Graph tag that's missing.

How to use the Open Graph Checker

  1. Paste the link you're about to share.
  2. Check the previews and the list of missing or too-long tags.
  3. Fix the tags, then re-check. Social networks cache cards, so use their debuggers to refresh old shares.

Why your share card matters

On social networks and in chat apps, people see the card before the link. A big image, a clear title and one line of context get far more clicks than a bare URL. Every launch post, newsletter mention and Slack share uses these tags.

The essential set is og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url and twitter:card. Generate all of them at once with the meta tag generator.

Card not updating?

Platforms cache share cards, sometimes for days. After you fix your tags, ask them to scrape again: use Facebook's Sharing Debugger, LinkedIn's Post Inspector, or add a harmless query string like ?v=2 to the link. While you're here, run the full marketing SEO checker on the same page.

Frequently asked questions

What is Open Graph?

A set of meta tags, first created by Facebook, that tells social networks and chat apps which title, description and image to show when someone shares a link. Almost every platform reads them now.

Why is my og:image not showing?

The usual causes are a relative URL instead of an absolute https:// one, an image that's too small or too big, an image behind a login or blocked by robots.txt, or a cached old card. Use an absolute URL to a 1200 × 630 image.

Does X still use Twitter card tags?

Yes. X reads twitter:card to choose the layout, and falls back to Open Graph for the title, description and image.

Are Open Graph tags a ranking factor?

Not directly. They affect clicks and shares from social and chat, and that traffic is often how new pages get found and linked.
